Windham Middle School is Hiring an Alternative Education Teacher Near Windham, ME

As an Altitude Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing educational support and guidance to students who may have struggled in traditional classroom settings. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each student. Your goal will be to help students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed academically and personally.Responsibilities:1. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and collaboration. 2. Invest in the wellbeing of our students and families and get to know each and every student well. 3. Engage with students in indoor and outdoor spaces intentionally designed to optimize student learning and empowers students to practice effective communication.4. Create engaging and authentic learning opportunities that promote student growth. 5. Provide instruction in various settings, indoor and outdoor, that encompass science and social studies. 6. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. 7. Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing feedback and support to help students achieve their academic goals. 8. Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and support staff to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to student success.9. Communicate routinely with parents and guardians to provide updates on student well being. 10.Implement strategies and interventions (such as Restorative Practices) to support students in developing appropriate social and emotional skills. 11. Participate in frequent outdoor exploration. 12. Stay up-to-date with current educational research and best practices to continuously improve teaching methods and strategies. Qualifications:1. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students who may face academic and personal challenges. 2. Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. 3. Valid teaching certification or license. 4. Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and backgrounds. 5. Strong knowledge of educational principles, theories, and practices. 6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 7. Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. 8. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment. 9. Strong organizational and time management skills. 10. Must pass a driver’s license and background check, as well as, be able to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.Working Conditions:1.
